SCONES AND TEA THE #1 By: Finally! TV Studios Craft Services What more valuable gift could we possibly give to our Mother's than our time? After all, nothing is ever more valuable than our time. You can give time, but you can not ever get it back. You can make time, but then something else may fall by the waste-side. Nothing is more valuable than our time.
We could just about conquer the world with enough time, but in our world today, we will settle for enough time to simply garden, chair a non-profit, get in a load of laundry, clean the house and dishes and have dinner on the table! All of which take, TIME! And all of which barely leave us enough time for anything else. Mother's Day forces us and others to take TIME and to make TIME and to share our TIME.
The best way to make the most of our time, is to take time together. So for this Mother's Day, we've come up with a terrific way - a relaxing cuppa tea and scones. But not just any tea and not just any scone and most certainly not time consuming. We've made our minds up to have a proper English Tea with Scones, of course the senior way, the simple and most relaxing way possible! Below is our recipe for perfect tea and easy scones, and we'll leave the conversational topics completely up to you. The beautiful aspect of hostessing a tea is that you can prepare everything ahead of time and then truly relax, as if you too were a guest. This Mother's Day Afternoon tea will consist of:
TEA Tea is usually served between 3:30 and 5:00, but 11zies are also a terrific time. First of all, tea-time should be treated like a day at the spa, meaning, go in with an attitude and come out with a relaxed attitude. Brewing - Boil you water in your kettle.Just before the kettle is about to boil, take it off of the heat. The reason is that you do not want to burn your tea.Warm your teapot with a smidge of boiled water first. Leaves - Now if you have leaf-tea, place a teaspoon of leaf for each cuppa and then one teaspoon of leaves for the pot.
Steeping - After you've warmed your pot for a moment, pour your water into your pot, whether it is filled with leaves or filled with teabags, fill with the boiled water for steeping the tea.Let it all mull together, and steep for at least 7 minutes. This will give you enough time to take the scones out of the oven and to place upon a nice doily for serving. Serving - The Table - When serving your tea, serve with a small amount of cream or milk and two slices of lemon per person.Have your sugar bowl at the ready with tongues and cubes, or those terrific rock candy stakes. The teaspoon should be placed under the teacup handle and the handle should be facing the right.Be certain you've warmed your cups with some of the hot water from the kettle; leave the boiled water in the cup for a moment to heat and then discard the plain water. Serving - Pouring Out -Your table is ready and your cups are set out, you are ready to pour-out! The number one item to serve with tea is scones. Why?Because they are hearty, tasty and filling. They will tide you over until lunchtime, or until supper or dinner, as they are almost a carbohydrate meal unto themselves.
They actually make a variety of scone mixes.Orange/cranberry, blueberry, plain, etc.For this tea we have chosen plain and orange cranberry. Now, scones are always served with either cloud or Devonshire cream (a cream cheese/whipped cream blend), lemon curd, or a marmalade. Today, we have chosen an orange marmalade to accompany our orange/cranberry scones and cinnamon/sugar butter to accompany our cinnamon scones. Now, it is suggested that you set the table first. Then make the scones. Put on your kettle of water. Bake the scones.Prepare your teapot.Steep tea.Remove scones from oven and serve all. There now, you have your scones, your tea and your Mummy! What a lovely way to live this Mother's Day! And with so much that can be done the day before, and the ingredients already premeasured, and the table takes but a minute to set, why you'll be free to enjoy your time with your Mum! Happy Mother's Day!

TEA AND TWO TYPES OF SCONES - ORANGE/CRANBERRY AND CINAMON AND WILL BE SERVED WITH ORANGE MARMALADE AND CINAMON/SUGAR BUTTER
Scones are, by themselves quite easy to make, but why take the time to do all that measuring and putting away of ingredients when one of our favorite flour companies have compiled all of the ingredients for us!And that flour company is "King Arthur" flour from New England.
