Candy For Your Sugar By: Finally! TV Craft Services Sugared Rose Petals and Grapes Treat your Candy to a little Sugar. Sugared rose petals and Sugared grapes! How delicate and romantically delicious! Sugared and editable rose petals for the one you love will certainly leave a blossoming impression; especially after you've hand-fed your dear heart a few sweet sugared petals. They are extremely easy to make. And of course they would be, because our kitchen does everything with ease and style! Quick, easy and straight to the heart of it! Since roses are the flowers almost out of the season, we've chosen their petals. When we think of roses, we usually think of Valentine's Day, but if you grow them you'll realize that whoever decided that the Valentine's Day flower should be a rose was either a florist, or lived in a Sunset Garden Zone 9 and pruned in November!
Because we all know, that for a few of us rosarians, our bushes, in just a couple of months, will be folded over with a burlap sack and covered with snow! Those lucky enough to have their garden in a warmer climate, may certainly have their almost all year, so to you, I say, lucky, lucky, lucky you! Now, hopefully you have not used pesticides, chemically treated fertilizer or anything harmful on or near your bush. If you have, DO NOT use your petals, you may become sick. This is very important. It is relatively easy to find edible flowers. Nowadays, most major markets will carry the edible pansies. And if you don't want to use pansies, maybe there is something in your vegetable garden. How about squash blossoms, which are so popular today! And again, everything must be chemical and pesticide free.
And if you don't want any type of flower, do try fruit! We recommend, this Valentine's Day, grapes. They are usually available this time of year in red or green and always delicious. Also, slices of fruit or even dates, work well. Cut or ready all of your fruit. Be sure your fruit and petals are completely dry. When preparing your rose petals, remove the bottom whitish edge of the petals, as they tend to be bitter. Bring your water and sugar to a boil in the Cooking Pot. Remove the sugar water from the stove and place in the top bowl covering the ice. Be certain to begin to dip the petals when first poured. When the syrup mixture begins to be too cool, the petals will no longer absorb. Dip each rose petal into the sugar water by using your tongs. Don't dip too long though, if the water is boiling hot,as it may begin to lose color and wilt. Let the sugar water cover it and gently place on the wax paper to dry. Repeat process with grapes or your other fruits.
Sprinkle all candied treats with Confectioners sugar. Serve! Well, there you have it. A simple, wonderful, unusual sweet for all of your dearest of heart. What a delicious and romantic way to be remembered! Happy Valentine's Day!

Place one of the soup bowls inside of another. On the bottom bowl, place some ice and towel over the ice to keep the ice and the top bowl in place.
Place petals and grapes upon serving platter and arrange in a festive manner.
