Scented candles are filled with oil.Oils have been a source of importance since the dawning of the enlightenment. That's what makes holy water, holy, well, oils and the blessings.Oils have traditionally played a role in anointing.
Great gifts of oil have been given to the littlest of babes, such as Frankincense, myrrh, etc.
Ancient Egyptians and Eastern Countries and all Religions believe in the power of oils, ancient medicines believe in the power of oil, such as woodworm oil, bark oils, "essential oils" etc., and even homeopathic herbalogists and masseuses believe in the power of essentials oils.
Most of today's oils are synthetic, but the "real" oils are the "essential oils", which are natural; and are also more potent. When certain oils are rubbed onto the body, they can actually be dangerous, such as if you have high blood pressure or diabetes or are pregnant. But oils as a fragrance, practiced for aromatherapy and/or practiced for romance, are just as important, and not as dangerous.
Oils matter.Scent matters.
Fragrance is important to the senses, which is important to the mind.Seeing as how the mind guides our memories and our emotions, pick the scents that are most enjoyable to you no matter what time of year it is.
Candle Care:
Be certain when you light your candles that your wick is short. Then, keep it short. The candle will last longer. If your candle is contained in a jar, it will last longer if the melted wax encircles the wick, rather than just running away and down the sides.
If you notice your flame is too tall, clip the wick; your candle will burn slower and longer.
If you want to put-out your candle without too much smoke, smother it with a candlesnuffer.
If you want a fragrant candle try a fragrance-candle from the super market or your nearest Yankee Candle store, they sell them on-line also and have great sales.
If you run out of wick, but still have candle wax left in the jar, your option is to either throw it out or purchase a candle warmer.Candle warmers can be purchase at a hardware store or at a craft store for 5 dollars or so.
The candle warmers can also heat your coffee cup, although that's not its purpose, but when it's not in use as it's intended.
If you have to go outside to talk to the mailman or to shovel snow, snuff out your candle.Candles, of course, should not be unattended.Certain candles may explode.Actually, it's not the candle that's really exploding, it's the combustibles around it.There is a "gel" candle that has been known to burst, whereby igniting the surrounding objects.
The key is to keep your candle contained and far enough away from flammable objects to avoid and prevent any type of danger.o, keep an eye on your candle and an eye on its flame.
If you feel the heat from the candle may or may not be too intense for its surroundings, such as a candle on a sill, near a pulled-back curtain, move it.Err on the side of caution, move the candle to a sure-bet safe zone.
Soot can also be a problem. If a candle is too sooty, its mix is wrong and probably has too much oil in it.Soot is damaging and very dirty. Not to mention the effects of soot in the air your breathing.
The air your breathing is very important and the scent your enjoying is also very important to your mood and the ambiance of the room.
So, this Valentine's Day, choose the right candle for the right setting and set your mood!
Happy Valentine's Day!
